Uthishta Brings Solar Street Lighting to Doddane, M.M. Hills

Uthishta successfully implemented a solar street-lighting project at Doddane, a remote village located approximately 15 kilometres inside the forest area of M.M. Hills.

With no access to electricity and limited basic infrastructure, residents faced serious difficulties travelling after sunset. The lack of lighting particularly affected children, women and elderly people and increased concerns about safety and encounters with wild animals.

As part of the project, Uthishta installed 60 solar-powered LED streetlights along approximately one kilometre of the village road, benefiting around 94 families. The lights have improved visibility, safety and mobility while bringing a meaningful change to the everyday lives of the residents.

Powered entirely by renewable energy, the project provides a reliable and environmentally sustainable lighting solution without depending on a conventional electricity connection.

This initiative reflects Uthishta’s commitment to bringing sustainable development and essential infrastructure to remote and underserved communities.

Our Inspiration

Swami Vivekananda

"In this world always take the position of the giver. Give everything and look for no returns. Give love, give help, give service, give any little thing you can, but keep out barter. Make no conditions and none will be imposed. Let us give out of our own bounty, just as God gives to us.”
