About Santhwanam Seva kendram

Santhwanam Seva kendram situated in the Kollam District at Iverkala Naduvil in the Kunnathoor Panchayath 34 KM away from kollam city and 13 KM from Adoor ,13 KM from Kottarakkara.

Santhwanam Seva kendram started its seva activities during the year 2006 to help a person who was wandering in the street for a long period. The person needed treatment to retain his physical as well as mental stability and emotional support for his further life. Santhwanam took the responsibility of admitting him in to a good hospital to get proper medical intervention. He retained his mental and physical health. His family was found out and they also came with support for elaborating the activities of Sathwanam.

A small shelter home was constructed in the land provided by the family of the first inmate. The members of Santhwanam started rehabilitating more people slowly. Santhwanam expanded its seva activities during 2007- 08 years by providing medical treatment to the mentally disabled persons with the help of doctors of private hospitals.

At the time of receiving Uthishta Seva Puraskar the center had fifteen mentally and physically challenged people along with other old aged people who did not have a shelter. All the medical and food expenses of the inmates are fully met by the Seva Kendram. In the year 2009, the kendram started to help the students in the weaker sections of the society. During 2009- 10 the seva kendra provided study materials and uniform to 25 and 30 students respectively. During 2011 seva kendram issued wheel chairs to the physically handicapped persons.

One of the most inspiring story from the Seva Kendram is that, five persons who had been wandering in the street were completely cured, they started remembering their family. Their families were discovered and they started to have a normal life with their own family and relatives.
