Lighting Up Lives: Uthishta’s Solar Initiative in Kodagu’s Tribal Communities

In remote tribal settlements in Kodagu, darkness falls early, and without electricity, families face challenges that affect daily life, safety, and educational opportunities. Uthishta, with support from the Schneider Electric India Foundation, has taken a significant step to change this reality.

Our recent initiative brought over 200 solar lights to two isolated communities, transforming the way these families live after sundown. With these lights, children now have the chance to study after sunset, families can cook and gather safely, and everyone can stay connected in times of need.

This solar project is more than just providing light; it’s about empowering lives and enabling a brighter future for these communities. Through renewable energy, we’re reducing dependence on unsafe, costly fuel sources and fostering a sustainable environment that respects the unique beauty of Kodagu’s landscapes.
